kalita records release their first in a series of coveted reissues, starting with the three choice cuts from nst cophie s 1980 private press ivory coast afro-disco album mon da center. after moving to paris in 1976 and having played with other well-known bands such as n bamina, osibisa, and with numerous artists including jimmy hyacinthe and papa wemba, mon da center was ernest s first solo album. recorded at studio caroline in paris s 20th sector over the space of one week, this self-funded ultra-rare album regularly exchanges hands for eye-watering prices. pretty much unknown except to the most hardened of diggers, bian kou , e clolo and mioukouna are guaranteed to set any dance floor alight, with hypnotic afro-disco grooves, killer drums and angelic female vocals.

convertion / let s do it was originally released on sam records in 1980. it featured the lead vocals of leroy burgess, who was also the lead vocalist for seminal disco tunes like black ivory / main line and logg / i know you will. the sam records catalogue is currently administered by nervous records. nervous has a long standing relationship with superstar producer louie vega, who with his maw partner kenny dope has produced some of nervous most memorable tunes, including the signature nervous release -the nervous track- by nuyorican soul. louie as always a fan of let s do it and wanted to do a remix. unfortunately the original parts were lost. not to be deterred, louie decided to reproduce the record, once again with lead vocals by leroy burgess. the result....let s do it - a louie vega interpration. b-side boogie mix stays close to the original version. the a side dance ritual mix includes that magic louie vega flavor that will make it an immediate essential item for all dj s. the 12- release will be available two months prior to the digital release

limited reissue of this incredible and highly sought-after futuristic 12 from 1981. released on west african music, a tiny label from the ivory coast, and finding a spiritual home on the italian eclectic cosmic scene, both tracks on this 12 are brilliantly innovative and exhibit a minimal techno-esque aesthetic way ahead of their time. side as closer is a chugging sinuous flow punctuated by jerking monotone vocals, horn stabs and synth arpeggios with a strong dancefloor sensibility. flip over for stunningly weird electronic percussion workout tam tam - a crazed sparse soundscape of strange falsetto tribal chants, funky hand claps and drums, synth wobbles, spasms and tweaks. mystery surrounds the identity of the elusive artist codek but evidence points to it being an offshoot project of french new wave producer john marieux.

perception productions, a new york based label that ran from the late 60s through until 1974, was a strangely eclectic affair. its roster stretched from a radical afro-american poet through to the pop band king harvest whose hit ‘dancing in the moonlight’ became a massive hit for the uk band toploader a couple of decades later. the inbetween points covered jazz, funk, vocal harmony soul and proto-disco.

ivory boy and pash are back once again as the peanuts, huge funky release on no more hits. the label has had a short hiatus but now is back with a bang! the guys have been working on this release for some time now, a lot of effort has been put in and it really shows!

dont be afraid present spargel trax, a two part series of vinyl-only, coloured, hand-stamped 12 inches designed to celebrate the dual themes of great seasonal music and great seasonal spargel. contributing tracks across the two 12 inchess are some of our favourite artists currently making house music. from established artists like disco nihilist, andy blake, sound species and james duncan to up and coming artists like david joseph from cologne, hodge from bristol, untitled-w from st. petersburg, for whom this is the first outing on wax, and scott fraser from glasgow. no clues though as to which is which, you?ll have to just listen to the tracks and hear for yourself! proof that 2012 is a great time for music, a great time for wax and a great time for spargel. spargel is very popular in the netherlands, spain, france, belgium, germany, and switzerland, and almost exclusively white. else, it is specified by the local language term for green asparagus. compared to the latter, the locally cultivated so-called white gold or edible ivory, also referred to as the royal vegetable, is less bitter and much more tender. freshness is highly regarded, and it must be peeled before cooking or raw consumption.
